A Youth Wellbeing
Community Activation
Project

I am Kristi Shaw, the Founder and Facilitator of the We Empower Us project
.
I am a community development specialist, an appreciative inquiry facilitator, and a narrative therapist. Most of my career has been about engaging and empowering youth, and co-creating youth for youth projects.

I am dedicated to building community collectives that work together to grow the wellbeing of our youth. By collaborating and creating cohesive action, we empower not only the next generation - but all of us - for a brighter, connected, and more sustainable future.

We Empower Us was born out of my passion to make things better. When people close to me were experiencing moderate to severe anxiety, it was a very challenging experience. I wanted to make things better for families, so I did my Masters on a social approach to anxiety. It was published and I won a Bold Innovators Scholarship.
We Empower Us came from my research and my desire to make things better.
It truly takes a village.

"You have managed to lead us in this process with gentle skill...I have enjoyed your leadership of the Appreciative Inquiry methodology. Not one I have known well. Initially it challenged me to stop my usual thought process of "what problem are we trying to solve" ( a more health/medical framework) and turn my thinking to "what has been a great success" (a strength-based framework). Quite a change and liberating, scary, and energizing at different times."
